The tank is a straight fit for 1999 models onwards.
You can fit theses tanks to all year models.
YOU JUST NEED TO NOTE BELOW
First you need to fit the new tank to your bike(1980- 1998) & place a bolt through the frame and into the tank (where the muffler bolt would have gone). Then fit your muffler to the head & to the rear rack only.
So that means your muffler bolt was not used or needed.
